Chicago's finest craft brewery, Goose Island Beer Co., claim a fine treble of Silver Medals at the 2009 Great American Beer Festival.
Since first opening it's doors in 1988, Goose Island has been producing some o the finest caft beers in the USA and at this year's GABF they continued to scoop the awards.
The Silver Medals came for 'Red Woody' (Wood and Barrel-Aged Beer) and 'Demolition' (Belgian and French-Style Ale), but perhaps the most satisfying medal was for their IPA (English-Style India Pale Ale) in what has become one of the most hotly contested categories in recent years.
The Festival has become one of the highlights on the international beer calendar and an absolute must for any brewer taking their craft seriously in the US.
This year, 457 breweries were present in the main festival hall serving over 2,100 beers; in total, there were 495 breweries in the competition and an amazing 3,308 beers were judged by 132 judges from ten countries.
In each category, there were an average of 42 beers entered.
Our congratulations go out to the Goose Island team on a great achievement!
